In the early sixties, when
the first curtain wall buildings appeared in the urban landscape of
Brussels, Helioscreen pioneered a new concept to solve the obvious
problem of overheating in summer conditions.
Combining high flexibility with great efficiency, Helioscreen blinds
made of woven and coated fibreglass were quickly accepted as a contribution
to comfort and energy savings, by reducing the temperature inside
the building and the energy consumption for air conditioning.
Almost 40 years later, Helioscreen has become an integrated manufacturer
of a full range of solar shading systems, from the fabric which is
woven in-house to the complete blind, installed and maintained by
the company. That makes Helioscreen a company with two activities:
complete systems and fabrics and ready-made covers.
Helioscreen has been a leader in solar shading technology for nearly
forty years.
1962: first application of fibreglass fabric for
external solar shading by Helioscreen.
1965: Helioscreen is the first company to offer a
complete range of rollable vertical external solar shading made of
fibreglass fabric, of its own design.
1965-1974: rapid growth thanks to the easy acceptance
of a simple, efficient and reliable solar shading system.
1974: acquisition of the weaving plant. Since then,
Helioscreen has been the only vertically integrated solar shading
manufacturer. Helioscreen controls the whole process from fabric to
finished product.
1994: Helioscreen awarded ISO-9002 certification
for the weaving plant, one of the first in the industry.
1997: joined the Hunter Douglas Group, with companies
in over eighty countries. Hunter Douglas is the world leader in window
coverings and architectural products such as ceilings and façade
elements.
2000: Helioscreen awarded ISO-9001 certification,
which demonstrates that quality plays an important role in Helioscreen's
corporate philosophy. |
